Looking forward to visiting North Dartmouth Middle School again on March 17. All the 7th graders will be reading The Life and Times of Benny Alvarez and working on learning about metaphor and writing their own object poems.

Had a great visit yesterday to Rye-Neck Middle School where all the students read Benny. Even the 6th graders were in to the book, and I had lunch with a number of students, who shared their favorite books and talked about some of their own writing projects. I’m looking forward to my September, 14 visit at Rye-Neck Middle School in Rye-Neck, NY. Over 300 kids will have read The Life and Times of Benny Alvarez, and I can’t wait to meet them and answer their questions. Hopefully, I’ll have some good pics to put up on this page

Had an amazing visit on March 11 to Dartmouth Middle School where over 300 7th graders read The Amazing Adventures of John Smith Jr., aka Houdini. The students made murals and posters; they created a board game, and even performed a song–all inspired by Houdini. Below are some pictures of their projects.

Last Wednesday I visited St. Andrews in Barrington, RI, where all the middle schoolers read The Life and Times of Benny Alvarez.
